The official ChatGPT app, OpenAI’s chatbot, is finally available on Android after being launched on iOS a few months ago. Currently, it’s downloadable in certain countries, but users in France will need to be a bit patient before getting it on the Google Play Store. However, to not miss its availability in France, users can pre-register.
This mobile app offers the same functionalities as the web version of the chatbot, based on the GPT-4 AI model. It makes using the chatbot on smartphones easier, allowing iPhone and iPad users to enjoy it for several months.
ChatGPT on Android has a similar conversation interface as on iPhone, and all features are available, including responses to various queries and code generation. A notable advantage of the Android/iOS versions over the web version is the ability to synchronize conversations across devices. Thus, users can start a conversation on the web and continue it later on their Android smartphones.
The ChatGPT app is offered for free and without ads, as promised by OpenAI. It is already available for download in the United States, India, Brazil, and Bangladesh.
For users in France, the app will be rolled out next week, although OpenAI has not specified an exact date. In the meantime, those who want to get it can pre-register by accessing the app’s page on the Google Play Store. Just click the green “Pre-register” button to link the app to their Google account and be notified as soon as it becomes available.
